The Discovery of Natural Immunity
Started at a Mushroom Farm

Samgu Farm has been researching mushrooms since 1968 as a small family farm. For mushrooms to grow healthy, all natural conditions must align precisely—air, humidity, soil, microbes, and seasons.

This made us more sensitive to ecosystem changes than anyone else. Mushrooms respond immediately to daily temperature shifts, weekly rainfall, and even minor environmental fluctuations, and nature has always revealed the reasons why.

From Samgu Farm to the Birth of Sun&Bee

"I don't know what's causing it...

but my hives keep collapsing."

One day, beekeepers around us began sharing the same concerns, one after another.

"Too many bees died this year."

"I don't know what's causing it... but my hives keep collapsing."

Their words weren't unfamiliar to us.

When the environment where mushrooms grow becomes unstable, nearby farms often experience similar warning signs.

When we visited the hives ourselves, we witnessed bees that were usually vibrant now lying weakly before our eyes.

That scene was shocking, even for us as a long-established farm. In that moment, we asked ourselves this question:

"If mushrooms can support human immunity, couldn't they help honey bees too, as they're living creatures just like us?"

From Samgu Farm to the Birth of Sun&Bee

In fact, this question wasn't a far-fetched idea.

Samgu Farm has researched the immune-boosting and antiviral compounds in mushrooms for decades,

and it's long been known that mushroom mycelium strengthens the defence systems of living organisms.

When a 2018 paper in a Nature journal provided scientific evidence that mushroom mycelium extract dramatically reduces viruses in honey bees, we had every reason to apply our expertise to help bees.

And finally, Sun&Bee was born—a solution that enhances bees' resistance based on immune compounds derived from mushroom extracts and natural resin.

This wasn't an innovation born from grand ambitions. It began as a small experiment driven by observations of nature in our farming life and a sense of responsibility we couldn't ignore.

We continue forward with that same spirit today.

Sun&Bee's Philosophy

Because we witness every day on the farm
that protecting bees means protecting nature,
and protecting nature ultimately means protecting ourselves.
